When a global manufacturer of equipment for power transmission and distribution equipment needed a video production in China, it was iQ Media that provided the creative spark.
In early 2008, AREVA, based in the Paris, signed a contract with two Chinese manufacturers to build Thyristor valves for a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) link to connect the power grids of China and Russia. The HVDC link was a first between the two countries and a ground breaking first contract for AREVA in China. AREVA was keen to promote their expertise in bringing about this unique partnership and needed a reliable production company to capture the historic event on video and in digital photographs.
Our long standing relationship with AREVA T&D, plus our experience of working on many of AREVA’s projects around the globe, made iQ media the natural choice for this important task in Beijing. But with the Olympics looming and no time to get entry visas, we had a major hurdle to clear to meet the filming window of only 2 weeks. Despite the eight hour time difference, iQ media liaised with their crew and AREVA representatives in China, Paris and the UK, to coordinate key stages of the project.
The post-production stage involved editing an emotive video to convey the importance of the contract, both to AREVA ,China and Russia Interviews with Chinese managers were quickly translated to English subtitles for inclusion in the programme.
The completed project was turned around in under five weeks, from AREVA’s initial request, to iQ delivering video, online video DVDs and photographic CDs. The video has already helped AREVA to secure further significant contracts in China which it sees as a key market.
